Pay Now by Card Terms and Conditions (UK)
Thank you for choosing to shop with Klarna.
This is an agreement between you and us. When we use ‘Klarna’, ‘us’, ‘we’ or ‘our’ in this document, we mean Klarna Financial Services UK Limited. When we use ‘you’ in this document, we mean anyone who has bought something using Pay Now by Card in the Klarna checkout.
In addition to these Pay Now by Card terms and conditions, your use of this payment option is governed by the Terms for Klarna Shopping Service, which are incorporated into and form part of these Pay Now by Card terms and conditions (collectively, the “Agreement”).
By choosing to pay for your purchase of goods and/or services (the “Purchase”) with Pay Now by Card, you agree to the terms of this Agreement, and our Privacy Policy.
How it works
Use your own debit or credit card (“Payment Card”) to pay for your purchase today using Klarna. This is not a credit product. We will freeze funds from your Payment Card immediately and you will be charged the full amount of your purchase once we have received confirmation from the store that the goods have been shipped.
If you return or cancel your Purchase, we will refund the balance back to your Payment Card.
Your bank may charge you interest or fees under your agreement with them. If you have any questions about those charges contact the financial institution that issued your Payment Card.
Who can use Pay Now by Card?
You must be a UK resident, over 18 years old and have a valid Payment Card to use Pay Now by Card. When we say ‘valid Payment Card’, we mean the Payment Card must be in your name, and must not have expired. You should also make sure the Payment Card you use has enough money available to cover your purchase.
How do I pay with Pay Now by Card?
You will pay Klarna the total amount of your Purchase in accordance with this Agreement, and authorise us to charge and freeze funds on the Payment Card that you specify at the time of yourPurchase. Once we have received confirmation from the store that the goods have been shipped, the account connected to your Payment Card will be debited. You will not be able to access frozen funds on your Payment Card during the period from when you make your Purchase and before the store has shipped the goods.
Does Klarna accept all Payment Cards?
We may limit the types of Payment Cards we accept at our discretion. If a particular Payment Card is not accepted, you will be notified before your Purchase is completed. We do not accept prepaid cards.
Am I entering into a credit agreement with Klarna?
No, this is not a credit agreement. Klarna does not charge interest or other charges due on this payment option. However, your financial institution that issued your Payment Card may impose interest, charges or fees when using your Payment Card to pay for your Purchase.
Who will it say I’m paying on my Payment Card statement?
Klarna will appear as the payee associated with your Purchase on your Payment Card monthly statement.
What happens if I cancel my order and want to make a return?
Any return or cancellation of a Purchase, is a matter between you and the store, subject to the store’s return policy. Once a return or cancellation is confirmed by the store, we’ll refund anythingyou’ve already paid to the Payment Card you used to make the payment.
How does Klarna store my Payment Card details and my personal details?
We store your Payment Card details on our systems when you shop with us. We’ll use these details to approve future payments. Unless you opt out, we may also use this information to fill out your Payment Card details for your convenience when you buy things in the future.
You can manage your Payment Cards online. If Klarna gets updated Payment Card details from your bank, we might also store this information on our system.
Please see our Privacy Notice here for more information about your rights, how you can get intouch with us, or to complain. By using Klarna’s services you confirm that you’ve read this notice.
What happens if my Payment Card is cancelled, or my Payment Card details change beforemy goods have been shipped?
If your Payment Card is cancelled, you’ll still have to pay us any money you owe as soon as weask you to. If your Payment Card details change between your purchase and the shipment of goods, you’ll have to manually pay for your order in the Klarna App or by contacting Customer Services.
What happens if I don’t have enough money on my Payment Card when you try and take payment?
If we can’t take the payment from your Payment Card when your order is shipped, we will try up to three times again to take the money. If we don’t succeed, we’ll let you know when we’re going totry again, so you’ll have plenty of time to put some money onto your Payment Card to make the payment. If we can’t take the money from you after these attempts, we might ask you to pay the outstanding amount directly or use a debt collection agency to collect the money for us. A debt collection agency is an FCA regulated company used by Klarna to recover funds that are overdue. Not paying for your purchases on time might mean you can’t use Klarna in the future. As a last resort, legal action may be taken against you to recover the debt.
